Located in Paris’s Latin Quarter, the Panthéon is an 18th-century monument originally designed as a church dedicated to Saint Genevieve, the city’s patron saint. Construction began in 1758 under architect Jacques-Germain Soufflot and was completed in 1790. The building sits atop Montagne Sainte-Geneviève, anchoring the Place du Panthéon.
The structure features neoclassical architecture with a prominent dome and Corinthian columns. Inside, visitors find a large crypt containing the remains of notable French figures. The interior also includes frescoes and sculptures that reflect its religious origins and later secular functions.
