Outdoor activities, hiking, cycling, water sports, and adrenaline tours
Paris offers more than just museums and cafés—there are plenty of ways to get active and enjoy the outdoors. From cycling along the Seine to adrenaline-pumping urban adventures, you can balance culture with movement in the city.
The 15-kilometer Seine riverside path from Parc de la Villette to Parc André Citroën offers varied scenery and easy access to key neighborhoods.
This route provides a combination of river views, green spaces, and urban landscapes. Start near the Canal de l'Ourcq at Parc de la Villette in the northeast, then follow the dedicated bike lanes along the Seine through the 19th, 12th, and 15th arrondissements. You’ll pass under bridges, alongside houseboats, and end near the modern gardens of Parc André Citroën. Bike rentals are available nearby at Vélib’ stations, with day passes around €5–7.
The Bois de Boulogne and Bois de Vincennes offer extensive trails within the city limits, with wooded paths and lakes to see.
Both these large parks provide a natural escape without leaving Paris. Bois de Boulogne in the west has over 8 km of marked hiking paths, including routes around the Lac Inférieur and the Château de Bagatelle gardens. Bois de Vincennes to the east is even larger, featuring paths around Lac Daumesnil and the Parc Floral. These parks also have bike rentals and picnic spots, making them flexible for different outdoor activities.
Urban adventure tours like rooftop climbing sessions and electric scooter treasure hunts offer thrilling ways to see the city.
Several companies organize adrenaline-filled activities such as climbing the rooftops of historic buildings or navigating the city’s streets on electric scooters with GPS challenges. For example, some tours include rappel sessions on the side of the Parc des Buttes-Chaumont cliffs or ziplining over the Parc de la Villette. These tours typically last 2–3 hours and cost between €50 and €90 per person. Booking in advance is recommended during weekends and holidays.
